Dr. Lois Shelton P.H.D., Director of Entrepreneurial Training

Professor Lois M. Shelton, Ph.D.
Lois M. Shelton earned a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University. She is currently Professor of Management at the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge, and an Affiliated Professor in the Doctoral School of the Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France.  She focuses on firm growth, and minority and women’s entrepreneurship in her research and has published articles in leading academic journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, and the Strategic Management Journal.  She was named Co-Editor of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research in 2015.
In addition to her research, Professor Shelton championed the launch of the entrepreneurship curriculum and program at the Nazarian College in the Spring of 2014, and led the faculty committee that designed the courses for the undergraduate Minor in Entrepreneurship and the MBA Concentration in Entrepreneurship.  She teaches undergraduate, MBA and doctoral level students. She was elected to the National Board of Directors for the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) in 2016 and to the post of Vice-President of Development of USASBE in 2017.  She also spearheaded the Nazarian College’s successful bid to host the 2018 USASBE National Conference, and is serving as on the National Conference Committee as the Host School Liaison/ Chair of Local Arrangements.
